The Heaven Can Wait Regatta this weekend in Lake Macquarie saw a strong fleet take to the water.

The Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto hosted the Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta over the weekend of the 24 to 25 of February in support of the Hunter branch of the NSW Cancer Council.

The regatta covers the length and breadth of Lake Macquarie with 5 races run simultaneously, including a One Lap Dash, a 12 hour race and a 24 hour race.

In Division 1 PHS, home town boat Austral, skippered by Peter Mayo, took out the 24 hour Endurance Race.

The Sydney 38 made it over 185 kilometres in a 24 hour period, beating out the Northshore Nsx 38 Leeway, skippered by Damian Graney, and the Spirited 380 Tasha, skippered by Garry Van Dijk.

X-Rated, the Sonata 26 skippered by Graeme Booker, took out Division 2 on corrected distance. Jeff Adams on the Jeanneau 36i Lady Chaos made it over 165 kilometres, ultimately placing second on corrected distance.

For the dash around the lake, Eddy, the Thompson 870, took out top spot, with Stealthy and Excapade rounding out the top three.

In Division 2, Rob Dawes on the Hanse 44 Indigo clinched the overall win, with Topaz and Tasha figuring in the placings.
