Performance Cruising Yachts has announced the arrival of the new Hanse 461 in Australia, with the latest performance cruiser set to strengthen the German builder’s local line-up, along with the Fjord 440 Open powerboat – also set for the Australian market.

As the exclusive Australian dealer for the HanseYachts Group, Performance Cruising Yachts already represents some of Europe’s most progressive sailing and powerboat brands, including Hanse, Dehler, Moody, Sealine, Fjord and Ryck – with the introduction of the Hanse 461 and Fjord 440 Open marking another significant step in the group’s product development.

The introduction will bring Australian owners two very different expressions of modern European yacht design: one focused on effortless performance sailing, the other on bold open powerboat luxury.

The Hanse 461, in particular, represents the next chapter in the German builder’s performance cruising story, building on the brand’s Easy Sailing philosophy with short-handed sailing capability, modern styling, generous living spaces and a high degree of owner customisation.

Designed around a new hydrodynamic hull and performance-focused rig, the yacht also features a maximised interior volume, expansive cockpit and a sleek profile that retains unmistakable Hanse styling.

Commenting, Josh Hayes of Performance Cruising Yachts said both the Hanse 461 and Fjord 440 represent the qualities that have defined the marque, with both models highly relevant for Australian boating.

The Hanse 461 is designed for sailors who want a modern cruising yacht with genuine performance, comfort and easy short-handed handling, while the Fjord 440 Open is built for owners who want a premium dayboat and weekender with strong performance, serious presence and exceptional social spaces.

“These two models show the breadth of what Hanse Yachts Group is doing right now,” said Hayes.

“The Hanse 461 takes everything owners love about Hanse – easy sailing, fast cruising, comfort and customisation – and moves it forward in a very intelligent way. The Fjord 440 Open is a bold statement in a completely different category: powerful, social, innovative and unmistakably Fjord.

For Australian owners, both models are extremely exciting.”

Designed for coastal cruising and longer offshore passages, the 46-footer features a new hydrodynamic hull, performance rig and an expansive cockpit centred around simple sail handling.

Key to the design is Hanse’s self-tacking jib and cockpit-led sail controls, allowing tacking, reefing and trimming to be managed from the helm. The arrangement is intended to make the yacht equally suited to couples, owner-operators and family crews.

A new Beach Club at the stern also extends the yacht’s social spaces, incorporating an enlarged bathing platform, integrated seating and a deep-step swim ladder for easier access to the water.

Below decks, the Hanse 461 offers a bright, loft-like interior with up to 24 opening windows and hatches to maximise natural light and cross ventilation, creating a comfortable onboard environment. Owners can choose from multiple cabin and saloon layouts, a range of owner’s cabin and shower configurations, and up to 48 layout combinations.

Performance remains central to the design, with a 111sqm sail plan, optional 164sqm gennaker, high rig and modern hull with chines intended to deliver fast, stable cruising. The Hanse 461 is designed to suit coastal cruising, family sailing and longer passages.

Alongside the Hanse 461, the Sydney-based dealer has also introduced the new Fjord 440 Open, expanding the HanseYachts Group offering in Australia with a premium open powerboat.

Buikding ob the success of the Fjord 41 XL, the Fjord 440 Open introduces a redesigned open-air layout that combines Scandinavian-inspired styling, advanced technology and enhanced social spaces. Other new features include an electrically transforming aft bench, integrated electric sunshades, a reimagined helm with twin 19-inch Volvo displays and a refreshed interior by Design Unlimited, creating a more refined onboard experience while retaining the brand’s distinctive character.

Performance Cruising Yachts is now taking enquiries on model availability, specification options and Australian delivery planning.
