Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS) will host the seventh edition of its Ladies of the Sea (LOTS) Coaching Regatta from 2 to 4 October 2026, welcoming sailors from across Australia and New Zealand.
Supported by Club Marine, the regatta is designed to build sailing skills, confidence and capability through a combination of coaching and short-course racing.
The coaching program will again be led by Nickie Jones, Australian Sailing’s Chief Instructor – Keelboats, with participants ranging from first-time sailors through to experienced competitors.
Divisions include spinnaker and non-spinnaker boats, all-female crews and mixed crews with female helms.
Male crew members are also welcome to participate.
Each day will include morning skills sessions followed by a series of short races, giving crews the opportunity to put the coaching into practice on Sydney Harbour.
RSYS Vice Commodore Karyn Gojnich OLY said the event continued to play an important role in encouraging greater participation by women in sailing.
“RSYS hosts the Ladies of the Sea coaching regatta to build women’s sailing,” Gojnich said.
“We would love to welcome sailors from across the country to Sydney Harbour for a weekend of learning, confidence-building and outstanding sailing.
It is a unique opportunity to be coached by some of Australia’s most accomplished and experienced women sailors, who usually have as much fun as the participants.”
Jones said the regatta’s focus on development and camaraderie remained central to its appeal.
“I love coming to RSYS’s LOTS Regatta. It is a joy to see the growth among sailors, and the camaraderie that is built,” she said.
“If you are looking for an excuse to visit Sydney, this is it. I know you and your team will learn so much, and you’ll have a great time doing it.”
Participants can bring their own boat, charter a boat or request to be assigned to a crew.
Entries are now open online through Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. Club enquiries are welcome.
