Never afraid to strike up a conversation, which invariably leads to discovery and culminates in a fascinating yarn, Jeni Bone has been writing professionally for 27 years.
She cut her teeth bashing out mostly true stories on her dad’s Olivetti with Neil Diamond’s Hot August Night as a soundtrack, aged ten. An only child, she fished, boated and caddied for her dad. School holidays were spent on the Hawkesbury in a hired Halvorsen or at a beachfront caravan park with not a care in the world.
Armed with an arts degree from Sydney Uni, unscathed by politics and theatre sports, her first ‘real job’ was in news and features at the Fairfax Herald Group. Jobs followed in advertising, SBS TV and the Vogue titles, which encompassed food, fashion, furniture and travelling the globe to meet the luminaries of each.
In the lead-up to the Sydney Olympics, Jeni worked in Publications for the broadcasting division, creating both technical and promotional material for the 10,000 media involved.
In 2001, relocation to Queensland was a monumental culture change – for the better. Living in the boating epicentre of the Gold Coast opened up a whole new realm of opportunity.
With two kids, one hubby and a massive dog, she is a contented convert to the boating lifestyle and loves the characters, pioneers, rebels and change-makers of this industry.

Scott’s love of the ocean started very early aboard a succession of family yachts, including Barbarian, which raced in the 1974 and 1975 Sydney Hobart Yacht Races.
After graduating through the dinghy ranks, he won his first spot on a crew in the great race in 1987. Nearly three decades on, he’s lining-up for his thirteenth trip south.
Scott has spent nearly 25 years as a broadcast journalist, including as a business reporter at the ABC. He combines journalistic acumen with his knowledge the marine industry, garnered from involvement in his family’s business as dealers of several brands of well-known motor yachts.
He rejects any prejudices aligned to power or sail, preferring to welcome all those who venture out on the sea as souls willing to venture beyond the far horizon – preferably with an EPIRBS and a good watermaker.
Scott is a passionate advocate for the protection of the unique marine environments that encompass our planet, and the creatures inhabiting them that are our responsibility.

Esther’s love of magazines started from a young age, when she would sit at home pouring over her own creations for an imaginary readership.
It was surely fate, then, that she started out her career – after a somewhat impractical degree in anthropology and biology – at a superyacht media company in London.
After six years there, including running a title for professional yacht crew and a stint in New York as US Editor, she took some time out from yachting to run the marketing of a luxury private island in the Exumas, still one of her favourite places on earth.
Esther lives on the Côte d’Azur in the heart of European yachting. If she’s not on the water or working, she can usually be found cycling up a hill or skiing down one.

With a career in advertising sales spanning 25 years, Michele earned her stripes in some of the world’s biggest media organisations.
Having spent almost 20 years at News Corp on The Australian newspaper and the iconic business and political magazine The Bulletin, she moved into senior roles in the field of fashion and high-end luxury.
While embracing the digital era, Michele firmly believes print still continues to provide a solid platform for marketers, delivering a level of engagement that can’t be matched.
In 2010 she joined Ocean Media, and continues to grow her skill set in business and luxury advertising while immersing herself in the world of boating.
Passionate about all wildlife on land and under the water, she believes it’s imperative we all strive to preserve the environment. Chat to her about conservation and you’re in for a robust debate!

Growing up in Milan, far from the sea, he begun dreaming about sailing at 10yo, thanks to an old Ferretti Altura 41, their family sailing boat.
They spent many summers visiting the most stunning laces around the Med, from the Italian coast to Croatia, from the Balearic Islands to the French Riviera. Love at first sight.
At 15 he had the chance to cross the Atlantic (from the BVI to Gibraltar) with two older and very experienced sailors. The solitude feeling of being sorrounded by nothing but water helped him appreciating even more the ocean, how fragile and beautiful the marine environment can be.
A year long experience as deckhand on a 75″ Franchini Sloop was his first real experience in the industry, with lots of cleaning and repairs; the perfect school to learn new skills and to confront a very tough market.
Landed in Australia in 2011, he finally had the chance to work at Ocean Media, finally surrounded by people that share his same passion.
