Due to the growth of the class across Europe, 2021 will see the first-ever WASZP circuit series held in the continent: the EuroCup

The last two years have seen the sailing vessel develop a high demand which, subsequently, has fostered this new circuit.

The European WASZP fleet has grown accustomed to big international regattas, including the WASZP Games and WASZP European championships marking some of the biggest foiling events in the history of the sport.

One of the major goals of the EuroCup circuit is to provide a boost to national WASZP fleets, something accomplished with the status of this new cup – idyllically enticing foreign and domestic sailors to national events, increasing overall level of competition.

Another objective of the circuit is to offer a lower-tier international event appealing for newcomers, something that WASZP believe may be not be the case with events named “European championships”.

With this direction, WASZP have stated they believe they are providing an inclusive platform for sailors.

The EuroCup circuit will also showcase this element of the class at a regional level and ideally, according to WASZP, “lead to more WASZP sailors actively competing internationally for the sailing, the social and the overall experience”.

Consisting of five events that will sit at a lower tier to the major championships, the EuroCup circuit will begin in France from the 29 April – 2 May, moving through the UK, Germany, Italy and then concluding in Spain on 31 October.
