The 2020 CYCA Trophy Race proved to be a great day of racing over a 24-nautical-mile windward/leeward course from Shark Island out-&-back to a laid mark.
Whilst Christian Beck’s super maxi InfoTrack stormed home 20-odd minutes ahead of the other three bigger boats, the chasing pack was not far behind.
IRC Division 1 was dominated by the TP52s who revelled in the conditions with Matt Donald and Chris Townsend’s Gweilo taking the honours ahead of Bob Steel and Craig Neil’s Quest and Seb Bohm’s Smuggler only minutes behind on handicap.
IRC Division 2 saw Carl Crafoord’s Cookson 12 Sail Exchange triumph over Les Goodridge’s X50 Wax Lyrical and Philip Bennett’s John King Custom King Billy.
ORCi was won by Quest with Bill Barry-Cotter’s Schumacher 54 Maritimo and Gweilo in second and third respectively.
PHS was won by Maritimo, with Gweilo and Smuggler sharing the podium.
The CYCA Trophy is the final race on the CYCA calendar before the Rolex Sydney Hobart takes centre stage on Boxing Day.
