Monohull line honours has been decided at the 2025 Rolex Middle Sea Race. Crossing the finish line in Marsamxett Harbour, Malta, at 05:44:07 CEST, Black Jack 100 took the title in an elapsed time of 2 days, 17 hours, 44 minutes and 7 seconds.
Success for the 100-foot Maxi yacht, skippered by Tristan Le Brun and owned by Remon Vos, was a high priority.
Last year, Black Jack 100 had to settle for second on the water after a thrilling duel with Scallywag 100. The two yachts met again in July at the Rolex Fastnet Race, where this time Black Jack 100 claimed line honours, turning the tables on her rival.
In the Rolex Middle Sea Race, Black Jack 100 delivered on its status as the pre-race favourite for monohull line honours and led the fleet for almost all of the 606-nautical mile contest.
At 09:00 CEST on Tuesday 21 October, 112 yachts were still on the racecourse, dispersed across the north and west coasts of Sicily, and there had been four retirements.
The focus now turns to who will prevail for the event’s most coveted title – the Rolex Middle Sea Race Trophy awarded to the overall winner on corrected time.
With only 15 yachts home and hosed, the 46th Rolex Middle Sea Race is far from over.
Some 85 of the 96 yachts still at sea are competing for the main trophy determined under IRC time correction. Balthasar, which finished on Tuesday morning, remains in pole position.
The crew has endured two heart in mouth moments already, and there may well be more to come. Few of those still racing will give up the quest to be first overall until the combination of distance to finish and time to beat make it mathematically impossible.
