Cruising cat in Cannes

The 42-foot catamaran arrives at Cannes with a newly designed interior, expansive outdoor living areas and three accommodation configurations, while retaining a sail plan and helm arrangement designed to facilitate short-handed cruising.

Central to the design is the amount of usable living space aboard. At the bow, a large cushioned area can be configured for sunbathing, dining and entertaining, while the cockpit provides another substantial social space.

Measuring more than 21-square-metres in its standard configuration, the cockpit incorporates a dining table with seating for up to 12.

Fold-down side platforms extend the area to approximately 30-square-metres, creating additional space at water level and adaptable seating that can face either forward or aft.

Above, the flybridge or Skydeck provides the primary helm station as well as an elevated relaxation area.

Its position is intended to provide good all-round visibility when manoeuvring and panoramic views while cruising.

Sail plan and handling

The NYX 42C is fitted with a 55-square-metre mainsail as standard, with a 60-square-metre square-top mainsail available as an option. The larger sail is designed to provide additional drive in light to moderate conditions.

The Solent jib incorporates a self-tacking track, roller furling and a 2:1 sheet arrangement to simplify handling.

At the helm station, sheets, control lines and running rigging are positioned within easy reach, with the layout designed to allow the yacht to be managed short-handed or single-handed. Much of the running rigging is concealed beneath custom covers when not in use.

Flexible accommodation

Three cabin layouts are available, accommodating between four and eight guests in double cabins. According to NYX, occasional berths elsewhere aboard can increase total sleeping capacity to as many as 12.

The latest interior has been developed to maximise the catamaran’s beam and available volume, balancing communal living areas with separate spaces for privacy.

Both the NYX 42C and electrically propelled NYX 42CEP are manufactured by Fareast, which has more than 20 years’ experience in racing yacht construction.

The production process incorporates digitised composite and metal tooling, CNC machining and laser cutting. NYX says its manufacturing facilities include multiple five-axis CNC systems and high-rigidity gantry CNC machines, with production tolerances down to 0.1 millimetres.

The NYX 42C Diesel Edition and NYX 42CEP Electric Propulsion will make their global premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 8 to 13 September 2026. NYX Catamarans will exhibit at Port Canto, booths SAIL027 and 148.
