Italia Yachts’ designer Matteo Polli has delivered a 40 foot (39 ft 3’’), racer-cruiser with crisp lines, an open cockpit and a layout that will accommodate the requirements of the most experienced sailing teams without sacrificing the comfort and luxury expected in a well-crafted European cruiser.

Two versions of the 11.98 are available: the Fuoriserie and the Bellissima.

Whilst the hull and deck design are the same, the Fuoriserie is the ‘pure race’ version, with carbon rig, tiller steering and a basic interior fit-out essentially set-up for  windward-leeward racing and optimised to the ORC rule.

The Bellissima is configured as the ‘cruiser/racer’ version, coming standard with twin wheel steering, carbon bowsprit, additional refrigerator, oven, additional storage cabinetry and an upgraded upholstery and cabinetry finish.

Downstairs the standard three cabin layout boasts full sized berths, an L-shaped galley and saloon dining.  There’s a separate head and shower compartment which doubles as a hanging locker for wet gear. The saloon benches can be converted to single bunks.

The engine is a 30hp Volvo Penta diesel and sail drive, with the option to upgrade to the 40hp model.

The 11.98 has already proved its race pedigree, hull #2 won the 2019 ORC World Championship in Class C. A full North Sails wardrobe is available and can only add to the boat’s regatta potency.

An 11.98 is scheduled to arrive in Australia in December 2019. If not sold prior, landed price will be AU $850,000.
