The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) hosted the two-day event on 17 and 18 October, with favourable spring weather providing ideal conditions for visitors to explore more than 25 new yachts and an extensive range of marine products and services.

The annual exhibition brought together leading international yacht brands, Australian marine businesses, boat owners and sailing enthusiasts, reinforcing Sail Expo’s position as an important event on the Australian sailing calendar.

RPAYC Commodore Julia Hornsby welcomed the strong participation from exhibitors and visitors.

“It was wonderful to see RPAYC so full of activity, with beautiful conditions on Pittwater and such a strong turnout from the sailing community,” Hornsby said.

Sail Expo showcases not only the latest yachts and marine products, but also the many ways people can enjoy sailing, whether they are just starting out or have spent a lifetime on the water.”

New yachts showcased

The marina display featured an extensive selection of cruising and performance yachts, including monohulls and multihulls from Jeanneau, Excess, Fountaine Pajot, Dufour, Beneteau, Bavaria, Lagoon, Grand Soleil, X-Yachts, Hanse, Leopard, Seawind and Aquila.

Visitors were able to step aboard the latest models, compare layouts and specifications, and speak directly with dealers about yacht ownership, coastal cruising, offshore passagemaking and performance sailing.

Sundance Marine presented four Beneteau yachts, giving prospective buyers an opportunity to explore different models and discuss their individual requirements.

“Having four Beneteau yachts on display gave visitors a great opportunity to get aboard, look at the details and see how different models might suit their plans,” said Sundance Marine’s Micah Lane.

“From layout and comfort to the way a yacht is used day to day, those conversations are an important part of choosing the right boat.”

Equipment and innovation

Complementing the marina display, the onshore exhibition featured sailing apparel, sails, tenders, marine hardware, rigging and specialist equipment, alongside sailing holiday providers and off-the-beach boating options.

Among the exhibitors was My Yacht, showcasing performance ropes, rigging, deck hardware and equipment for cruising and racing yachts.

Mia Park from My Yacht said the event provided a valuable opportunity to engage directly with sailors seeking practical advice on equipment selection and upgrades.

“Every boat and sailor has different needs, and being able to talk through those requirements makes a real difference when choosing equipment,” Park said.

“Sail Expo gave us the chance to share our experience, introduce visitors to specialist products and discuss practical solutions for everything from everyday cruising to more performance-focused sailing.”

Alternative ownership options

Boat sharing was another focus of the exhibition, with SailTime, Smart Boating and AllSail presenting alternatives to conventional yacht ownership.

These programs offer sailors access to yachts without the full financial commitment, maintenance obligations and ongoing responsibilities associated with owning a vessel.

The growing range of access and ownership options reflects the industry’s efforts to make recreational sailing more accessible, particularly for newcomers and those seeking greater flexibility.

Sailing community connects

Beyond the yacht displays and marine equipment, Sail Expo offered a social weekend for the sailing community, with food, refreshments and live entertainment contributing to a relaxed atmosphere at RPAYC.

Visitors travelled from across Australia, while participation from yacht dealers, equipment suppliers and marine service providers highlighted the breadth of expertise within the Australian sailing industry.

Supported by Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, the event also provided an opportunity for industry representatives to connect with existing customers and prospective buyers ahead of the summer sailing season.

Following the positive response to this year’s exhibition, organisers are already looking towards Sail Expo 2027, which will return to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.
