With sleek looks, flared aft and solid build, Elan’s all-new Impression 43 builds on the reputation of its Impression and transforms it into modern blue water cruising yacht. The new model features design by the renowned Humphreys Yacht Design studio and styling by Pininfarina, known for their exquisite styling work in the automotive sector.
The new hull shape has a modern wide beam carried aft to maximise volume, twin rudders and a sail plan optimized for easy short-handed sailing. A self-tacking jib comes as standard but there’s an optional overlapping genoa if you want a bit more power at the cost of easy shorthanded handling.
The yacht will be built using Elan’s VAIL (vacuum-assisted infusion lamination) composite technology to create a light and stiff hull and deck. The process not only keeps the weight down but also improves the mechanical properties of the composite.
The cockpit is built for enjoyment at anchor as well as sailing pleasure. Ample seating for up to 10 people will ensure everyone is comfortable onboard. An optional modular cockpit table converts into two sunbeds.
Uncluttered decks enable ease of movement and flush mounted hatches add extra styling. For those who fancy being the centre of the party at anchor, the helm seating can also house an optional barbecue and fridge. There are of course the iconic transom seats to enjoy, and the elegantly designed helm consoles can house 9-inch MFDs and myriad other instruments.
The new interior has been given a modern, stylish and sophisticated finish and palette, and the accommodation can be specified in three- or four-cabin configurations. The three-cabin version has an island bed and spacious ensuite head with a separate shower. The optional four-cabin version adds a cabin with bunk beds, perfect for families or groups of friends.
The saloon can comfortably seat the whole family around a centre table, flanked by two solid wood chairs that fold in a dedicated space when sailing. The table can also drop to convert the lounge into a double berth – great for having extra guests on board or for when the skipper wants somewhere to rest while being easily on hand while on passage.
The long outboard galley to port features a three-ring hob plus oven and a front-opening refrigerator situated in the forward L-shaped cabinet. The long layout offers plenty of surface space and cupboards for storage. Grab rails line the deckhead to ensure safe movement when underway, and the floor is on one level with no hidden steps.
