Yanmar Group has been confirmed as an Official Sponsor and Official Marine Sports Sponsor of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, extending a relationship with sailing’s oldest international trophy that dates back more than a decade.
The next America’s Cup will be staged in Naples, Italy, in 2027, with Yanmar continuing its association with the event through a partnership focused on marine technology, innovation and sustainability.
Yanmar first became involved with the America’s Cup at the 34th edition in San Francisco in 2013, when it served as Official Technical Partner to Oracle Team USA.
Its involvement continued through the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda and the 36th edition in New Zealand, where Yanmar also served as Official Marine Partner.
The relationship was renewed for the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona before being extended again for Naples.
The company says the America’s Cup provides a natural platform for its work across advanced marine engineering and lower-emission technologies.
The competition has long served as a development arena for technologies including lightweight materials, foiling, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, simulation and energy management.
Yanmar’s current marine technology portfolio includes lower-emission combustion systems, hydrogen fuel-cell technology and electric propulsion, with the company continuing to invest in lower-carbon marine solutions and improved engine efficiency.
Innovation has always been central to the America’s Cup, making it a powerful platform for advanced marine performance,” says Wouter-Jan van der Wurff, President and CEO of Yanmar Marine International.
“This closely aligns with Yanmar’s approach as we continue to develop technologies that support performance today and contribute to the long-term evolution of the marine industry.
“The ocean is one of Earth’s most important life-support systems, and protecting it is central to our sustainability mission. Through this partnership, we want to champion innovation, performance and responsibility on the water.”
America’s Cup Partnership Chairman Grant Dalton says Yanmar’s ongoing involvement reflects shared interests in technology, teamwork and the marine environment.
The America’s Cup sits at the intersection of human ambition, advanced marine technology and the ocean itself,” Dalton says.
“Partners like Yanmar understand that competing at the highest level means pushing the boundaries of performance and teamwork, while also recognising our responsibility to the environment that makes this sport possible.”
The Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup will be held in Naples in 2027, with the Italian city also set to host a preliminary regatta ahead of the main event.
