Sail Expo expands

Sail Expo 2026 will return to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in Newport this October, bringing together an expanded line-up of yachts, multihulls, marine equipment and sailing services.

Held Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, the two-day Sail Expo event will combine an on-water display of cruising and performance yachts with a larger shore-based exhibitor precinct at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC).

Among the new-boat highlights will be the Sydney premiere of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 455, presented by Performance Boating Sales alongside the new Sun Odyssey 415 and Sun Odyssey 380.

The Sun Odyssey 455 combines a performance-oriented hull with twin helms, walkaround side decks and a spacious cockpit. Below deck, the design focuses on increased natural light and ventilation, with a choice of interior layouts.

The performance-focused Grand Soleil GS40 is among the sailing yachts represented in the Sail Expo line-up.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 455 will make its Sydney premiere at Sail Expo 2026.

The Hanse 410 combines performance cruising with a spacious deck and cockpit layout.

“The 455 brings together performance, easy handling and a really impressive amount of space and light,” said Performance Boating Sales’ Lee Condell.

“We’re looking forward to giving Sydney sailors their first opportunity to step aboard, alongside the new 415 and 380.”

Multihull Central will display the Seawind 1160 XL, the latest development of Seawind’s established 1160 platform. The new model offers increased interior volume and headroom, greater bridge-deck clearance and a lighter hull.

“The 1160 XL takes a proven Seawind concept and moves it forward with more space and a fresh approach to the design,” said Multihull Central’s Brent Vaughan.

“It will be great to have people step aboard at Sail Expo.”

The on-water display will also feature yachts from Lagoon Catamarans, Beneteau, Bavaria and Hanse, allowing visitors to compare different sizes, configurations and approaches to cruising and performance sailing.

Shared boating will form another part of the program, with exhibitors presenting alternatives to traditional yacht ownership, including shared ownership and other boating access models.

Multihull Central will showcase the Seawind 1160 XL at Sail Expo 2026.

On shore, an expanded exhibitor precinct will feature sailing apparel, electronics, deck hardware, inflatable tenders and other marine equipment and services. Exhibitors will include Henri Lloyd, Lejen Marine, North Sails and Yachting Holidays.

Sail Expo will also focus on pathways into sailing, with small boats including Optimists on display to introduce visitors to junior sailing and the progression from learning to sail into racing and cruising.

Food and entertainment will complement the yacht and equipment displays across the RPAYC waterfront throughout the weekend.
