Carbon Yachts has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for Shogun Yachts in Australia and New Zealand.

Shogun Yachts was founded by Swedish entrepreneur and sailor Mats Bergryd, with vessels developed in collaboration with the Södergren design team and constructed at the Rosättra shipyard in Sweden. The yachts combine carbon fibre construction with design features intended to enhance sailing performance and ease of handling.

Bergryd says his objective for the brand was to deliver the performance of a race boat without requiring a professional crew. Drawing on experience with high-performance models such as the ClubSwan 50, the team created a yacht intended to balance handling, speed and accessibility.

The first model launched was the Shogun 50, a lightweight carbon yacht with a minimalist aesthetic and a focus on performance. It was followed by the Shogun 43, which carries the same design philosophy in a smaller format.

Both models are designed to be handled short-handed, with systems including adjustable twin rudders, hydraulic trimming accessible from the helm, and efficient sail-handling layouts.

The interior design focuses on open space with a functional layout. The cabins are also arranged to support entertaining and overnight stays, while avoiding excess weight or unnecessary complexity.

Chris Hrones, co-founder of Carbon Yachts, test-sailed the Shogun 43 in Palma and visited the brand’s production site.

“What impressed me most wasn’t just the speed or how light the boat felt – it was the way everything worked together with such clarity,” says Hrones.

“The systems are smart and efficient, but they don’t get in the way of sailing. You’re fully engaged at the helm, but never overwhelmed.”

Hrones, who has introduced several European builders to the Australian and New Zealand markets, says: “Shogun is a brand I’ve followed closely for years. There’s a strong identity in the design, bold lines and aggressive detailing, but also real purpose underneath it.

“Like Saffier and YYachts, Shogun shares a commitment to simplifying the sailing experience, prioritising helm feel, clean layouts, and design that encourages time on the water rather than complexity.”

With this appointment, Carbon Yachts adds Shogun to a line-up of European yacht builders known for their focus on materials, layout and intuitive sailing features. The company operates in locations including Pittwater, the Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne and Auckland.
