Coral Sea Marina Resort on Queensland’s Whitsunday Coast has again been awarded 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation by the Marina Industries Association (MIA).

This Global accreditation is the highest accolade that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers a comprehensive unique marina experience by providing tailored personalised service and an outstanding array of high-quality facilities and amenities.

Coral Sea Marina Resort is a 520-berth marina at Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, 1,100 kilometres north of Brisbane.

The marina resort is a key Queensland tourism destination and springboard for visitors experiencing the Whitsunday Islands which is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It has over 20 retail, hospitality, and tourism tenants.

The adjacent and recently redeveloped Coral Sea Resort Hotel has 77 rooms on the waterfront, to add to the guest experience.

MIA CEO Suzanne Davies praised the marina, which entered the MIA’s coveted Marina of the Year Awards (MOTYA) Hall of Fame in 2021.

“Coral Sea Marina Resort again sets the bar for Gold Anchor marina standards, with service and facilities that continue to exceed the expectations of its tenants and guests,” Davies said.

“And what’s so impressive is that the marina team continue to look at ways to better their facilities, whether it be the service they provide, the facilities or their environmental and community initiatives.”

The Global Gold Anchor rating system is designed to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system like hotel star ratings. Marinas are independently assessed against over 86 separate criteria which cover management processes, the condition and maintenance of the marina, environmental practices and the ancillary facilities and services.

The assessment also involves an anonymous customer survey to further ensure it delivers on its promises.

CSMR Owner, Paul Darrouzet said, “I couldn’t be prouder of the team for again achieving the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum marina standard.

“Maintaining the platinum accreditation is thanks to our dedicated team who are Developing the marina industries through education, accreditation and research. constantly evolving to improve our customer service, marina standards, and environmental initiatives.

“We look forward to providing our valued guests with a memorable experience in the years to come.”

With the growth in popularity of the Asia Pacific region with superyacht owners, the MIA is also pleased to announce that Coral Sea Marina Resort has become one of the first Australian marinas to join the Superyacht Ready accreditation.

Superyacht Ready is available to Global Gold Anchor accredited marinas that satisfy the program’s assessment standards.

The Superyacht Ready criteria is based around the suitability of the marina’s infrastructure to accommodate superyachts, accessibility for superyachts, security measures and service availability.

Davies explains, “Superyacht Ready indicates that the marina is equipped to provide berthing for a superyacht and the Gold Anchor rating will give an insight into the extent of the facilities available at the marina, the service levels and the overall ambiance and opulence that one can expect.

“As a Superyacht Ready and 5 Gold Anchor Platinum Marina, Coral Sea Marina Resort is certainly going to be high on the list of destination marinas for superyacht captains to consider when they have owners and guests on board.”
