Aussies looking to own their own piece of boating paradise in the Med can rely on the syndication reputation and contacts of Yachtshare Mariner, who in partnership with Dream Yacht and service providers on the ground, have created a seamless, hassle-free form of shared ownership.

Operating in the Med and the Whitsundays, Yachtshare Mariner syndication is a “walk-on-walk-off” experience for owners.

“Owners have the freedom to explore,” explains Director, Trevor Joyce. “We manage the vessels, all the cleaning and maintenance from the primary base in Marmaris, Turkey.”

In the Med, Yachtshare Mariner is offering a Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42, which will launch in 2023 and has four shares remaining out of a total of six, each at Euros 122,250 per share. The second Astrea 42 has already been fully subscribed.

The other vessel still available is a Dufour 530 which will start operations at the end of 2022-start of 2023, with two shares remaining out of six, each priced at Euros 108,500, including an engine upgrade to 110hp.

“The reason we have six owners, rather than eight as we do in Australia is because the European season is shorter,” explains Trevor. “Owners have access to their boat for one month between April and the end of September, as well as unlimited use outside peak season.”

The boats operate on a three-year contract, sailing in Greece and Turkey for the first year, then moving to Croatia and Montenegro in the second, and in the third year, Sardinia, Corsica, Italy and France.

The yachts’ primary base is the resort town of Marmaris Turkey on the Mediterranean coast, where it returns after each season for maintenance and service, and hardstand storage over winter.

If an owner wants to sail from Italy to Turkey for example, outside main season, they can do themselves or the boat can be delivered by a professional.

The appeal of Yachtshare Mariner syndication lies in the network and contacts Trevor has made over 30 years in the industry, managing and chartering yachts.

“Our partner in Marmaris, SK Yachting, does all the technical work. We have a 30-year relationship with this company and they are thoroughly reliable for their technical expertise in fibreglass, mechanics, woodwork, electrics, electronics and all boat systems – whatever is required.

“Another big plus is our affiliation with Dream Yacht which gives us access to their network of yacht charter bases for service, turnaround, warranty, technical support, assistance, moorings.”

Marmaris is a popular resort town on the Aegean and a great place to be based, as Trevor explains.

“Owners have full use of the marina amenities, which include resort-style facilities and pools. Then sail just a few miles away and it’s pine trees and clear waters, small ports, villages and wonderful welcoming people.

“Owners may sail those magical cruising grounds, crossing easily from one country to another on their own private yacht, at their own speed with their own itinerary.”

Another reason to consider syndication through Yachtshare Mariner is the absence of the complications people tend to encounter when they attempt it themselves.

“There’s the time difference, for one thing, the currency exchange and the language,” says Trevor. “People who try to do it themselves often find complicated.

“With our connections, it’s an easy place to operate in, and when you have professionals running the boat, it’s a very smooth process.”
