The 24th edition of the Western Circuit Sailing Regatta (WCSR) concluded with resounding success.

Hosted by Raffles Marina in partnership with Singapore Management University (SMU), the SMU-RM WCSR 2023 showcased an exhilarating display of competitive sailing and community camaraderie.

Over its storied two-decade history, the WCSR has consistently exemplified the pinnacle of sailing excellence. This year’s regatta gathered sailors of diverse backgrounds and skill levels to partake in a series of thrilling races across various keelboat classes, reaffirming the regatta’s reputation for fostering competitive excellence.

Running 19 & 20 August, the 24th SMU-RM WCSR ignited the waters with intense racing action, uniting sailors from varying backgrounds for an unforgettable showdown.

The regatta’s lineup featured an impressive array of keelboat classes, including 5 IRC, 7 PYs, 3 J24s, 1 multihull, 10 SB20s, and 10 Hansas.

An assembly of 156 sailors truly excelled during the occasion. Their adept strategies and refined manoeuvres left a profound impact.

Amidst the spirited races, the 24th SMU-RM WCSR remained steadfast in its dedication to community engagement and philanthropy. The gala event celebrated both athletic achievements and social responsibility.

A total of S$8,782 was raised for Singapore Disability Sports Council’s Sailability program (SDSC), underscoring the regatta’s commitment to make a positive impact on community.

During the gala dinner, Raffles Marina’s Vice President, Mr Loke Yuen Piew, handed over the donation cheque to SDSC’s Executive Director, Ms Kelly Fan, and also to Mr Jovin Tan, Paralympian and Sailability Coach at SDSC.

The 24th SMU-RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta stands not only as a testament to sailing prowess but also a beacon of unity, community spirit, and altruism.
