After two races with Peler, Slingsby wins the world title with two races to go. Jensen and Goodison close out the podium; first Italian Francesco Bruni and first woman Josie Gliddon.

Day 1 brought a breeze between 8 and 12 knots, proving perfect for highlighting the talent of some of the best sailors in the world.

Given the very high number of members considering the last years of the pandemic, the boats were divided into two fleets of equal number: the Yellow and Blue fleets.

Six races were held with the first start at 14:25 in order to give time to the Ora to stabilise: 2 for the Yellow fleet, 3 for the Blue, and one last for the Yellow.

The yellow fleet saw Australian Tom Slingsby on top of the standings after three races. Second in the same fleet was Paul Goodison, England, closely followed by the Italian Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo Ruggero Tita.

Iain Jensen, also Australian, took first place in the blue fleet with a performance that mirrored the one of Slingsby. Second was Kyle Langford, Australia; third, also from Australia, Nathan Outteridge.

Day 2 may have reshuffled the fleets, but the results were much the same with Tom Slingsby at the top of the charts after three races. Second in the same fleet was Kyle Langford, Australia, followed by French sailor Aymeric Arthaud.

In the Blue fleet, Iain Jensen, Australia was again in first place; second Paul Goodison, England and third, also from Australia, Nathan Outteridge.

The “Redoro Frantoi Veneti” Moth World Championship ends in perfect fashion: races with Peler. The first warning signal for the Gold fleet at 8 o’clock made the athletes get into the water that the sun had not come out of the mountains yet.

Regattas were also scheduled in the afternoon, but unfortunately, the Ora came in a little late, allowing only one race to be held for the Silver fleet.

In the morning, the script remained the same: total domination by Tom Slingsby, Australia, who won the title of World Champion in the Moth class with two races to spare. Second consecutive victory for him after the world championship in Perth in 2019. Second place for Iain Jensen, Australia.

Closing the podium is the Englishman that calls Fraglia Vela Malcesine home Paul Goodison, who recovered brilliantly after the accident that saw him break the mast. First Italian Checco Bruni, after a super comeback, second Italian in seventh position the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo Ruggero Tita, and within the top 10 the Fraglia Vela Malcesine athlete Simone Salvà in ninth position.

The Silver fleet saw the Austrian Philipp Hribar come out on top, second from Denmark Frederik Just Melson and third the Croatian Luka Dogan. The women’s ranking sees Josie Gliddon, United Kingdom, on the first step of the podium, and second Jo Aleh, multiple Olympic medalist from New Zealand; both sailors fought in the Gold fleet. Third woman in the regatta Franziska Mäge from Germany.
